The David Awards: heroes in small business
Congratulations to Pakiri Beach Horse Riding on winning the award for Most Outstanding Lifestyle Business in The David Awards: heroes in small business 2009.
We had a large number of diverse entries, many of them very strong contenders for the Awards. We applaud everyone who had the courage and took the time to enter - and it's great that you achieved such an outstanding result. You truly deserve the recognition for what you have done with your business so far.
November Newsletter. Summer????
At Last.clear warm days and some grass growth!!! What a horrible winter.during the last school holidays we had 2 storm warnings and 2 Tsumami scares.just what we needed to keep our visitors coming!!!
The Tsunami thank goodness didn't happen here but we did a full evacuation as requested from Civil defense. Horses up the hill and all of us too.we went armed with red wine, cheese and crackers and sat on Ben's deck and waited .and waited.we did get a slightly larger swell on the beach but nothing very different and all that work!
Then we had to get the horses all back to normal.and us!!! What a mission.
We have great staff at the moment, fun and very competant Trevor, Fiona, Helen and a new guide Jennie from Canada, Bree has gone back to Canada we will miss her, so it is nice to have another guide from there again. Ilona, Cara and Rachael are helping out as part timers. Tara who was also from Canada has returned to her home and taken Mark a local boy with her..very romantic! Dave and Anneke are making the café and accommodation really nice and we are working on increasing our accommodation nights.so all of you who would love a weekend riding with your Mum or dad or friends remember you can have a great beach weekend on horse back too and stay in one of our cute little river and beach cabins or the big beach house.
 We have a lovely new filly foal from our Arabian mare Dyna, she is up standing and very active and will be grey, sadly we lost Wahida's big colt while foaling. A big loss for me as it is the second one we have lost in a 2 years.
Our Gallery has a nice exhibition of paintings from Peter Gossage last book " Rona and the Moon" these are the originals for the illustrations in the book and they are lovely. A perfect starter for your child's art collection.
We have some photographs done by the Three Sisters Photography Angela Hall and Kathy Davies of all our horses and ponies and we have sold a few and they make wonderful Christmas gifts. Some really good shots of all of them. There will be one here of your favourite horse or pony so you will have great memories to keep.

Fern 14.2 grey 5yr mare. Green broke recovering from a knee injury, quiet lovely mare $550.00
All these horses are lovely to handle and all have been trucked or floated with out trouble and are surplus to our requirements (Laly says I have to cut back on horses!!).
We have developed a 3day ride to Matakana with a day at the market and visiting vineyards.this should be a great ladies ride.
 We have just finished a really nice 5 day Warrior Trail with riders from USA, UK, Australia, Switzerland, Canada and Ireland and amongst them a famous actress! We were lucky we had great weather and were able to stay over night at the Marae. Helen even took three of the group for a moonlight night ride but the moon ran away so it was hilariously dark!! Such a lovely group of people.
I was lucky to be able to purchase a leather sewing machine so now we can do our own repairs.if you see some very brightly coloured ,strange looking halters on our horses.they Trevors handiwork.he has been playing with it! As well we bought some jump stands so you young holiday campers can test those out!
