School Holiday Horse Riding Camps
Children 9 yrs to 14 yrs

During the school holidays, we run 5 day horseriding camps at Pakiri Beach. These are a wonderful experience for kids, especially those who live in the city.

When they arrive for their stay with us, they choose a pony for the week that will be theirs to care for and ride each day. They get to experience beach and farm riding, take part in a mini gymkhana, and learn all about the responsibilities of caring for a pony.

Day 1
Arrive at Pakiri at approximately 10am, with some time for settling into the bunkroom and meeting the other campers.

After morning tea, you can meet and choose your pony, then groom and saddle them. If you haven’t done this before, we’ll teach you everything you need to know! We take a short ride around the arena, so you can get to know your pony, then have lunch.

We spend the afternoon on a long ride along Pakiri beach, before settling your pony for the evening and having dinner.

Day 2
After breakfast, we groom the ponies and set off on a half day ride along the beach.

After lunch, we have riding lessons and clean our riding tack.

Before dinner, we settle the ponies for the night.

Day 3
After our usual prepartions, we set off on a full day’s ride on the beach, with a picnic lunch on the beautiful sands of Pakiri.

Day 4
Today we start the day as usual – plus prepare your pony for a show! After lunch, we hold a mini gymkhana with show jumping and games, then we set off on a treasure hunt with your pony.

Day 5
On your last day of the camp, we have a full day ride to the Tomorata Lakes and through the forest, with a lovely picnic lunch. At the end of the day, we return to Pakiri, where it is time for you to say goodbye to your pony and the new friends you have made.
